Random Number Generator

Draw random whole numbers from any range. Lock the seed when the draw has to be reproducible, for raffles, test splits, or anything someone may want to check later.

How to use Random Number Generator

  1. Enter the Minimum and Maximum. Both ends are included, so 1 to 100 can return 1 or 100.
  2. Set How many numbers to draw, from 1 to 1,000.
  3. Leave Unique values on for no repeats, or turn it off to allow duplicates. Tick Sort ascending if you want the list in order.
  4. For a draw you can replay later, turn on Reproducible (seeded) and type any seed text, such as sprint-17.
  5. Press Draw numbers, then Copy list to grab the results as a comma-separated list.

Common use cases

  • Picking 3 raffle winners from 250 numbered tickets, with Unique values on so nobody wins twice
  • Cold-calling students by drawing from 1 to the number of seats in the room
  • Choosing 20 rows out of 5,000 to spot-check in an audit, sorted so they are easy to find in the spreadsheet
  • Announcing a seed before a giveaway so anyone can rerun the draw and confirm the winners
  • Getting the same random test inputs on every run while you debug
  • Deciding who goes first in a board game with one draw from 1 to the number of players

Why Random Number Generator?

No-repeat draws are built in. With Unique values on, a number that already came up is thrown out and redrawn, and the tool refuses outright if you ask for more unique numbers than the range holds. The seed option makes a draw repeatable: the same seed, range, count, and options always give the same list, which is how you prove a giveaway wasn't rerun until a friend won. Your range, count, and the Unique and Sort toggles are written into the page URL, so a bookmark brings back the same setup. The numbers are generated in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

No browser tool is truly random in the physical sense, and this one doesn't pretend to be. Without a seed it uses your browser's Math.random(), a pseudorandom generator that is statistically even and fine for raffles, games, classroom picks, and sampling. It is not cryptographically secure, so don't use it to make passwords, keys, or anything someone could profit from predicting. With a seed it switches to Mulberry32, a small deterministic generator, so the output is predictable on purpose.
