01 · Real-world fits

Common use cases

  • Filling text frames in a Figma or Sketch mockup so the client reviews the layout, not the wording
  • Stress-testing a card or modal with five long paragraphs to see where it overflows or truncates
  • Hitting an exact word count, like 50 words for a product blurb slot or 300 for a blog excerpt
  • Seeding a CMS or local database with dummy posts while the real copy is still being written
  • Checking line length and leading after a font change, without real sentences pulling your eye
02 · The honest pitch

Why Lorem Ipsum Generator?

Paragraphs are built to vary: 3 to 7 sentences each, 6 to 15 words per sentence, so a block of five looks like real writing instead of one passage pasted five times. Words mode gives you an exact count for fixed-size slots. Your count and type are saved in the page URL, so a bookmarked link opens with the same settings. The text is generated in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing to configure beyond two controls.

Frequently asked questions

It is scrambled Latin from Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum, written in 45 BC. The source line includes "dolorem ipsum," meaning "pain itself." "Lorem" is just the tail end of "dolorem" after the word was cut. The words are real Latin, but the order is shuffled, so even a Latin reader sees nonsense. It spread through Letraset transfer sheets in the 1960s and later desktop publishing software.
