InstantTools

A remove.bg alternative that never uploads your files

remove.bg made one-click background removal famous — by uploading your photo to their servers and charging credits for full-resolution results. InstantTools runs a comparable AI model (RMBG) inside your browser: full resolution, no credits, and the photo never leaves your device.

Where your file goes

remove.bg: server-side

remove.bg processes images on its servers using its proprietary model, with results above a preview size requiring paid credits. Uploaded images are handled per their privacy policy, including options for the service to improve its models.

InstantTools: in your browser

InstantTools downloads the open RMBG-1.4 segmentation model (~44 MB, once) and runs it via WebAssembly on your device. Your photo is never transmitted; the transparent PNG you download is generated locally at the source resolution. The privacy strip on the tool counts exactly how many bytes were uploaded: zero.

Honest questions

Is the quality as good as remove.bg?

remove.bg's proprietary model is state of the art, especially on hair and fine edges. RMBG-1.4 is very close for typical product shots, portraits, and graphics — and you can judge the result side by side before downloading, for free, at full resolution.

Why does the first run take a while?

The AI model downloads to your browser on first use (~44 MB) and is cached afterwards. That download is the model, not your image — your image never goes the other way.

Verify it yourself

Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use any InstantTools file tool. After the page and its engine load, you will see no request carrying your file. That check takes thirty seconds and beats any privacy policy.
