Why Redact PDF?
Most “redactions” that leak are not hacks — someone drew a black rectangle over text that was still in the file, and anyone could copy it out from underneath. This tool rebuilds every page you redact as an image, so the words under your boxes stop existing rather than being hidden. Then it re-opens the finished file and searches it for every item you marked; if anything survived, the download button stays locked. Pages you didn’t touch are copied over unchanged, so their text stays sharp and selectable. The whole job runs in your browser — for a document sensitive enough to redact, uploading it to a stranger’s server to do the redacting defeats the point.
Redact PDF keeps the job narrow: permanently black out sensitive text in a pdf, then prove it is gone. It is built for the small but frequent moments when opening a heavyweight editor, installing a package, or uploading sensitive work to a random service is more friction than the task deserves.
